PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is qualified. Apparently the Republicans knew about this in advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes.

Yes, it's only a poll. But it will be reported on PBS, picked up by mainstream media and can influence undecided voters in swing states.

Our wedding/mini honeymoon pictures...

~I think most people already know, but Shane and I just got married May 4th, up in Door County (Sturgeon Bay, Wi). We had an amazing time! The Bed and Breakfast we stayed at, White Lace Inn, was perfect. The Inn had five different houses (we stayed in the Hadley House), and beautiful gardens surrounded the area, with a koi pond, gazebo, flowers, kitties(!), etc. Our rooms were really nice (we stayed in 2 different rooms, one for the first 2 days and another for the last 2 days), and each had a huge hot tub, king size bed, fireplace, balcony/patio, and pretty antique furniture and fixtures. Our wedding ceremony was beautiful; just the two of us, the reverend, and the two witnesses (the innkeepers). Our wedding night consisted of jumping in the hot tub, drinking champagne, watching Dumb and Dumber, playing basketball, ordering pizza, hanging with the kitty Sam, relaxing, and... It was perfect. :) Our mini honeymoon was spent driving around Door County, looking at the beautiful scenery, relaxing in our room, exploring the area, and eating yummy food.

~We're still planning on having a wedding reception (we just haven't figured out when yet), but we're thinking this fall or next Spring. We'll make a post once we figure it out. :)

~So here are the pictures from our wedding day/mini honeymoon (May 3rd-6th), for those who haven't seen them yet...

~Hey all, I just thought I'd let those of you know, who don't know already, that SHANE AND I GOT ENGAGED THIS PAST SATURDAY!!! I feel so lucky to have found my soulmate, the love of my life, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him. :D

The story begins almost a year ago. For those who've heard this story before, well, stick it out.

Last autumn, Jen and I went for a road trip to look for antique stores in random spots. We were unsuccessful, so headed back to Madison, when we came upon the idea to go to the Arboretum. The leaves were changing, and it would've been purty.
We get there, and Jen's wearing flip flops, since we hadn't planned on doing a nature walk. She valiantly trucks along. We head down the first trail we see. It's getting good traffic -- not so much that there's nothing but people, but where you pretty much see people at any point. We walk for about ten minutes, when there's a point where there are no people. I sieze my opportunity, grab Jen, throw her against a tree and passionately kiss her. We break, and she says 'ow'. The results were that in my moment of lust, I stepped on her foot, but more in a sliding along it. The bottom of my shoe caught her toenail and tore it straight back. She begins to gush blood.
Nature walk over, except for the ten minutes it takes to get back to the car, in which Jen hobbles.

So Saturday past, we go there again. This time, Jen's wearing tennis shoes. It's not yet leaf-changing time, and it's later in the day, and as such, there's very few people around (we saw a group of three walkers, and that's it). As we meander along the trail, I'm thinking: A) There's not enough space to do it right, and B) It's a bit buggy. So we exit the trail, and go to the more manicured part. I take a picture of her next to a tree, so I have a 'before' picture. A short distance away, there's sun's final rays splashing down onto the grass, and I figure there's a good spot. However, too buggy again. No time to grab anything when one's swatting themself.
We start to make our way back a bit, and I'm thinking the moment has passed. A short way back, we come across this small group of trees that I've never seen before -- really densely packed. The ground is all woodchippy, and I'm fascinated by these trees. I turn to tell Jen something, and she's distracted by trying to take a picture with her phone of the freshly risen moon. It was challenging, so it took a bit of time -- the perfect amount of time for me to get prepared, such as it were. She, in wanting revenge from a few minutes earlier, takes a picture of me. In it, I have one hand scratching the top of my head with a weird look on my face. Outside of the picture, my other hand is kind of behind my back, holding a diamond engagement ring. She looks at the picture and is amused by the look on my face.
At this point, I say to her, 'Jen, I have a question to ask you.' I drop down to one knee (cliché, but well worth it), pop open the ring box, and ask her, 'Will you be my wife?' Her response? She turns away and starts laughing. After about twenty seconds of this, the wood chips are starting to remind me that they're not grass, plus my knees are rubbish anyway, so I then ask her, 'Is that a yes?', hoping that she'll let me get up. She, fortunately, turns back and says yes, and allows me to put the ring on her lovely finger. Smooches and embracing follow, as well as (par for the course) more laughter as we make our way back to the car.

We drive to Jen & Keith's place out in the country, and of course there's a perfect sunset going on. It also allows Jen to call the people she needs to call -- my phone calls for those out of state folks will have to wait until we arrive. We get a chance to tell all the people who notice there what's going on, and all is good. It would've been nice to stay a bit longer, but we did need to go to the club and tell a few others in person as well.

And, as luck would have it, after we got home, Jen's tummy was feeling the booze, and I started getting a chest cold. All the both of us could do was lay down and pass out. Well, it was a rather eventful day anyway.

~Got home from dinner last night, with a really good friend of mine who I haven't hung out with in awhile, and opened my mailbox to find my official State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse license. I was told it would take about a month, but the date says November 9th, which is a day after I took my exam. So I am now an official RN. Wow! I can't believe it. I will update when I find a job.

~Spent last night with my most wonderful boyfriend, playing board games, and I FINALLY beat him at Trivial Pursuit. Thanks for letting me win, honey! ;) I hope your day goes well, and then you are finally on vacation! Yea! You definitely deserve a break, darling.

~Today the sweetest aphrodite_myrtl took me to lunch and gave me some really beautiful flowers and a sweet card. Thank you so much Wendy!!!! You are so thoughtful and generous!

~Okay, off to do some stuff and then get ready for work.

A real update, finally!

I PASSED MY NURSING STATE BOARD EXAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

~After I graduated with my BS in Nursing this past May, I took some time off from studying to just enjoy my summer. I started studying for my NCLEX around August and finally took my exam November 8th, this past Wednesday. I found out the following Friday that I passed. I am very relieved to say the least. I had been sick all week with the yucky ICK, so I had to take my super important exam while feeling like my head was in a cloud. Argh, I thought for sure that I failed because of that but also because it was hard! They really find your weak points and focus your exam on those areas. The exam is anywhere from 75-265 questions and the computer shuts off when they know with 95% certainty that you are at the passing or failing level. My computer shut off at question 92, so I was done pretty quickly.

~My official results will be mailed to me in about 3 weeks to a month from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing, and once I get those I will be an RN officially, finally. Yea!

~Next on my to do list: take my CPR classes that I have put off taking; get my TB shot; finish my resume; contact my references; and finally start applying. It's been a long road, but I'm almost there. :D

~Thanks to everyone who has been such a super support system for me, while I have been going through all of this. I have been super stressed lately and I am so thankful that I have such wonderful, loving, and understanding friends who have helped me get through all of this. THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!! Thanks especially to the love of my life, my wonderful Shane. You have helped me more than you know. ::LOVE::

I wanted to thank all of my wonderful friends, who made this weekend absolutely fantastic for me!!!! So thanks for either coming out to my graduation ceremony, lunch, the Inferno, or some or all of the above. Thanks for the sweet words, cards, flowers, gifts, rubbies, etc. etc. etc.! You all completely ROCK and I love you all!!!!

Okay, now I'm going to sleep for a week because I am exhausted. I woke up today, not hungover, but really horribly sick. Ugh! My nephew is sick with the flu, and I think I caught it. Plus, I went out almost every night this week and didn't get much sleep, so I'm sure my immune system is really sucky right now. So it's time for me to take a break for a little while. At least I got through most of the weekend healthy.
